I was admitted as a solicitor in 1984 and from my admission I practised in regional Queensland. In 1986 until 1998 I carried on my own practice in Monto in the North Burnett region. I had purchased the practice from a solicitor who was retiring who had started the practice in 1932.

That solicitor was Harry Bandidt MBE which some people unkindly commented was an appropriate name for a solicitor!. To the amusement of others I carried on practice under the name of Bandidt and Biggar. Being the only solicitor in a small country town I was able to experience a wide range of work with a concentration in the areas of conveyancing, small business, wills and estates. I enjoyed practising law in a small country town but after 12 years decided was time to move to Brisbane for the education of my three children.

In 2000 I purchased an existing practice in Petrie that had 2 staff (who are still with me today) and loyal clients but no computers. With the help of the staff I was able to grow the practice and gradually computerise the office.  I have been a member of the property law and practice committee of the Queensland law society for over 10 years and have presented a number of seminar papers at conferences.

I still act for a number of clients from the Monto area and it is pleasing to see that I am now acting for second and third generation clients.

In the last few years I have acted for clients who have bought and sold both freehold and leasehold motels throughout Queensland and it is an area of practice that I enjoy.

Away from the office I enjoy spending time with family, watching sport and travel. I especially enjoy AFL and cricket and am lucky enough to be a member of the Melbourne Cricket Club after spending 25 years on the waiting list. My children have now finished school and two of my children are now living overseas as they have also been hit by the travel bug.

I am proud of the practice today that has grown to 11 full-time staff from the practice that I started with 2 staff in 2000 and continue to look forward to assisting clients with all property, small business and wills and estates matters.
